Independence is a wonderful thing in its many forms.
The freedom to feel autonomous and unfettered,
able to determine your own fate and guided by your own beliefs. As we grow older,
we realize its value more and more.
Still, I’m not sure I’d proclaim my
autonomy as the driver in front of me did the other day. While waiting in traffic,
I couldn’t help but notice the bumper sticker in front of me.
It seemed like the driver had deliberately
attached a version of the old “kick me” – or in this case, “honk at me” – sign on
his own posterior.
And while we’re on the topic of posteriors
and independence on this Fourth of July, this fella’s looking pretty good about
now, isn’t he?
Yes, he is. I am hoping for the best outcome for all of us during these trying times.
